‘Welcome to Binay Country’ Tarpaulin Seen in Cebu

On Sunday, January 31, the culminating mass of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) was held at the San Pedro Calungsod Template in Cebu.

With about a million devotees expected to attend the event, it was a bit apparent that politicians running for office in this year’s national elections will take this as an opportunity for more exposure.

Thus, captured in photo along the South Coastal Road, which is near the San Pedro Calungsod Template is a tarpaulin with words written, “WELCOME TO BINAY COUNTRY.”

The photo spread on Facebook like wildfire, drawing criticisms from netizens.

From Inquirer.net, a netizen shared the following on Facebook.

“Hello! Can anybody get this streamer out of the highway leading to SRP before this afternoon’s International Eucharistic Congress mass? This is placed just before the bridge for people coming from Talisay to see. After what happened during the Sinulog, Rama has become worse. Can’t Rama and Binay show respect?” posted Angela Joey Go on her FaceBook account on Sunday noon.
