WATCH: This Tribute to “The Incredibles” Edna Mode is Star-Studded!

Edna Mode Incredibles

One of the most anticipated Disney movies is the sequel to The Incredibles, which we have to say took too long to arrive (the first film came out in 2004). But it’s never too late for our favorite movies and we’re just super excited that it has a sequel. One of the characters that we’re excited to see is Edna Mode, the imperious fashion designer who created the superhero family’s costumes and who declared, “no capes!”

To drum up excitement for the sequel, Disney created a tribute to the legendary designer, inviting high-profile names like designer Zac Posen, models Heidi Klum and Kendall Jenner, creative director Nina Garcia, stylists Kate Young and Rachel Zoe, and many more. Mode has even been described as “iconic, an artist, the history of fashion, like no other designer, a legend, modern, graphic, meticulous, and a visionary.”

The iconic character of Edna Mode was believed to be inspired by Edith Head, a Hollywood costume designer who won eight Oscars for her works. She has worked with virtually every actress in Old Hollywood, from Mae West to Ginger Rogers, Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, Gloria Swanson, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marlene Dietrich, Rita Hayworth, Sophia Loren, Natalie Wood, Katharine Hepburn, and many more.

The Incredibles is a 2004 Disney-Pixar animated film about a family of superheroes who quietly lead ordinary lives. It did so well that it received the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2005.

The sequel will premiere on June 15, 2018.
