In 2013, the world was introduced to the Warrens, real-life paranormal investigators and authors who helped exorcise hauntings. Their story was immortalized in the film The Conjuring, which followed the couple as they tried to exorcise a real-life haunting in a farmhouse. The film was such a success that it became one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time and launched a spin-off film called Annabelle.
Now, the Warrens are back for The Conjuring 2, where the couple return to solve another real-life case. This time, they are trying to solve the case of the Enfield Poltergeist, a widely-covered poltergeist case involving a family in England. From 1977 to 1979, the Hodgson family experienced paranormal activities inside their home. Some members of the Society for Psychical Research believed the case, while some psychology professors claimed that they found evidence that the young girls involved faked the incidents to get attention from the press.
The Conjuring 2Â will see the return of James Wan as director, and Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The movie will premiere June 10, 2016.
