WATCH: The Trailer of The Documentary ‘I Am Heath Ledger’ Celebrates The Life Of The Actor

Heath Ledger was supposed to celebrate his 38th birthday last Tuesday, April 4. It was in 2008 when news of his untimely death shocked the world.

Ledger was at the peak of his career when he got accidentally intoxicated with prescription drugs. The Hollywood actor had just finished shooting for The Dark Knight at the time where he was honored for his great portrayal of Batman’s villain Joker.

He is also known for his award-winning performance in Brokeback Mountain, and for being a teen rom-com icon in 10 Things I Hate About You.

Earlier this year it was announced that a full-length documentary on the life of the actor was in the works.

The trailer of the documentary, I Am Heath Ledger, was released today.

In the trailer, Ledger’s family and closest friends, along with co-stars and directors, talk about who the actor truly was–behind the films and the awards.

The trailer also features never before seen footages taken by the actor himself who’s ultimate aspiration was to be a film director.

The film ultimately celebrates the brilliance and the life of Heath Ledger. It’s Heath Ledger like you’ve never seen before.

It will definitely break your heart knowing that he was gone too soon.

The film is set to premiere in the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and in US theaters in May.
