Those who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s are surely familiar with Heathers, the cult film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. It’s now being turned into a TV series and the first trailer is here!

In the remake, Victoria Cox stars as Veronica Sawyer, the role originally played by Winona Ryder. She is joined by Jasmine Mathews, Brendan Scannell, and Melanie Field as the three Heathers portrayed by Lisanne Falk, Shannen Doherty, and Kim Walker in the 1988 film. James Scully will take on the Christian Slater role of J.D.
Interestingly, one of the Heathers will be played by a male actor.
The original Heathers dealt with Sawyer and the three Heathers as the most popular (and meanest) girls in school. When J.D. enrolls, Sawyer is drawn to the mysterious boy and their friendship leads them to avenge the people wronged by the three Heathers.
The film was released to critical acclaim, with Rotten Tomatoes calling it “dark, cynical, and subversive, Heathers gently applies a chainsaw to the conventions of the high school movie — changing the game for teen comedies to follow.”
The remake will be a 10-episode series that will debut in 2018. Doherty is set to appear in the pilot and Selma Blair is expected to be a series regular.
