WATCH: The Trailer For The First Oil Painted Movie–“Loving Vincent”

If you think you’ve seen everything that could be done about animated movies, think again. We’ve seen hand-drawn cartoons and computer generated images, and now we’re about to witness the reveal of the world’s first fully oil painted feature film!

Loving Vincent is an upcoming biopic on the life of renowned painter Vincent Van Gogh. And what better way to tell the story of a painter than through moving paintings?

This film, which is set to premiere in the US this September, reportedly has approximately 65,000 frames–all of which were hand painted by 125 different artists!

Loving Vincent focuses on the life of the famous artist and on his controversial death. It’s a product of countless hours of research and works, plus the sweat and tears of people who just want to tell the story of Vincent van Gogh’s mysterious death.

The short trailer is already more than enough to tell me how much of a visual feast this film is going to be–and it’s definitely going to be a joy to watch.
