Japan is known for a lot of weird things (like fried chicken-flavored ice cream), but can anything top this on the weirdness scale?

The Ring‘s Sadako and The Grudge‘s Kayako (including her son Toshio) recently opened a baseball game between the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters and the Yakult Swallows in Japan to promote their joint film Sadako vs. Kayako.

Watch the video below:

Strangely, this is not the first time Sadako has played baseball. In 2012 and 2013, she threw the first pitch at similar games, where she hit 70 kilometres and 103 kilometres per hour. This time, she hit 96 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, this is the first time for Kayako and Toshio to join a game.

Sadako is the lead character in The Ring, the first of a trilogy of novels written by Koji Suzuki. In the books, a ghost called Sadako Yamamura creates a tape where the viewer will die in seven days. It has been adapted into several films.

The Grudge (or Ju-On) is a movie written and directed by Takashi Shimizu, and follows Kayako and her son Toshio as they haunt a house in Japan.

Both films are two of the most well-known horror movies in Japan.

Sadako vs. Kayako will premiere on June 18, 2016.
