WATCH: The Blair Witch Project Has a New Sequel!

Those who grew up in the ’90s were scared of The Blair Witch Project, a “found footage” film that followed three friends who were investigating the Blair Witch, a local legend. The movie came out in 1999, way before the advent of the internet, so no one knew whether it was real or staged.

For Blair Witch fans, we have great news: there will be a new sequel and its first official trailer was recently revealed!

The Blair Witch is the third in the series, and follows a group of college students who visit the site of the disappearance of one of the students’ sisters, who they believe is part of the trio who disappeared in The Blair Witch Project.

The film was promoted as The Woods, until Lionsgate switched the name to Blair Witch.

The Blair Witch is a local legend in Burkittsville, Maryland. It is the name given to an elderly woman called Elly Kedward, who was accused of witchcraft and banished in the Black Woods Forest, where she believes to haunt.

The first film was directed by Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick, and earned $250 million against a $6,000 budget. A sequel was released in 2000 called Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, which did not do as well.

The latest sequel will premiere on September 16, 2016.
