It’s easy to say “I love you,” but it’s different when you show it. And it’s extraordinary when you show it despite physical distance. But this guy managed to wow his best friend and show her he cared for her, even if he was away. By 10,000 miles.
Joshua Ortiz, a writer and director, made a short video called The 10,000 Mile Birthday Surprise, where he shocked his best friend of four years by flying 23 hours from Orlando to Sydney to celebrate their birthdays together. And it was the sweetest.
According to Joshua:
In a nutshell: I met my best friend on 10/10/2010 in the Philippines and after a few months of getting to know each other, we had to move 10,000 miles away from each other. Before she left, just days before our birthdays, I promised her that one day she and I will spend our birthdays together (in person) and after four years…
it finally happened! I traveled 10,000 miles to surprise her at work and made sure to scratch off a few things on our to-do list.
This is a special video that I truly want to share because it inspires people to look at distance as just a challenge.
Even though there will be struggles and problems along the way, moments like these in the video prove to be worth the wait.
