Gina Lopez as the latest DENR (Department of Environmental and Natural Resources) Secretary has truly “rocked the boat” as she says in her own words. She has been known to be a staunch environmental advocate and has been known to have closed down multiple mining firms in the country who have not adhered to the regulations set by the DENR.
In the video below she answers some questions that have followed suit after the recent press conference of the mine audit results. Here she addresses issues on labor and offers sustainable solutions, while also shedding light on the real social and economic costs of irresponsible mining. She does leave word however, that she is ready to work with the mining firms who have dutifully complied and passed the audit.
