WATCH: Palawan from Above and Below, a Stunning Video of The World’s Best Island

“It was definitely a memorable trip.”

This is what Scott McFarlane, a photographer and filmmaker based in California, said about his travels in the Philippines. He explored Manila, then went to see the whalesharks in the east, and ended his Philippine adventures in Palawan, specifically El Nido and Coron.

In Palawan, Scott went on the TAO expedition across El Nido to Coron, and captured the epic 0ne-week journey in film. Watch his final output, Palawan from Above + Below, here:

Scott shared the rest of his story with us:

My wife and I have traveled throughout Southeast Asia but never the Philippines. On a friend’s suggestion, we booked a trip and instantly fell in love with the country – the generous people, the gorgeous landscapes, the fantastic food. And now the Philippines has become our favorite country in the region.

We started our journey in cosmopolitan Manila, checking out the casinos and modern shopping outlets. Then we headed to the east to swim with majestic whale sharks and explore local villages by motorbikes. To round out our trip, we then boarded a traditional Paraw sailboat with TAO Philippines and adventured throughout beautiful Palawan for a week, where we shot this video. The epic island scenery was stunning as we sailed all day on our journey north from El Nido to Coron. At night, we camped on remote islands – many uninhabited. It was definitely a memorable trip and this video only offers a glimpse into the beauty of the Philippines.

Palawan has just recently been named the top island in the world for the second year in a row by Travel + Leisure Magazine.
