Me Before You is a romantic novel written by Jojo Moyes, and is about Louisa Clark, an unemployed woman who takes on the job of being Will Traynor’s caretaker. Traynor is bound to a wheelchair after an accident, and he loses his grand ambitions and his will to live. He wants to commit suicide through an assisted suicide organization, and Clark makes it her mission to change his mind. They soon develop a romantic relationship.
The book was received so well that the New York Times reviewed it with, “When I finished this novel, I didn’t want to review it; I wanted to reread it.”
An adaptation was confirmed in 2014, and will star Emilia Clark and Sam Claflin in the leading roles. It will be directed by Thea Sharrock.
The film will premiere on June 3, 2016.
