WATCH Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel Reunite For Wicked

For Wicked fans excited for the musical’s return in Manila next year, we have great news for you: the stars of the original Broadway production, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, reunited to perform “For Good,” the musical’s last number.

The performance is part of the Wicked‘s #OutofOz music video series, and marks the duo’s first performance together since performing “Defying Gravity” at the 2004 Tony Awards.

Wicked is based on the Gregory Maguire book of the same name, and tells the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, a lonely witch left out of groups because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular witch. Elphaba is disillusioned by the corrupt government of the Wizard, and she goes on a quest to stand up against evil. Wicked is set before L. Frank Baum’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and is supposed to be the “origin story” of the Wicked Witch of the West.

It was adapted to the stage in 2003, directed by Joe Mantello with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.

The original run starred Menzel and Chenoweth, and won seven Drama Desk awards, three Tonys, and one Grammy.

Filipinos were given a special treat in 2014 as the Land of Oz descended on Manila. The show will return on February 2, 2017, and a waitlist for the ticket is already available on the Concertus Manila page.
