WATCH: High School Musical BFFs Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale Sing a Duet for the Very First Time

Who can forget the glorifying success of the early 2000’s Disney teenage musical, High School Musical? We don’t.

Ten years after the first of three High School Musical movie came out, we are now seeing a reunion between two of its main casts: Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale. The two played shy and smart Gabriella Montez and rich and snobby Sharpay Evans in the films, respectively, but IRL, Vanessa and Ashley formed a best friendship that would last until present.

Here’s the thing. Did you ever notice that, in three films, Vanessa and Ashley never actually sang a duet? I didn’t realize it, either! In a video recently posted by Ashley on her YouTube channel, where she’s taken on Vanessa as a musical guest, the two revealed that they’ve always wanted to do a duet on the HSM films but were never given a chance.

…So they made it happen themselves. Sure, this technically doesn’t count as a High School Musical duet anymore, but to us, they’ll always be Gabriella and Sharpay, and that’s just as good.
