WATCH: Cloud 9 is Definitely a Great Place to Surf in the Philippines

Cloud 9 in Siargao, named after the local chocolate bar of the same name, is a popular surfing spot in Siargao Island known for its thick and hollow waves. Although sometimes crowded, there is no denying that Cloud 9 is a great surfing spot located in what is is tagged as the ‘Surfing Capital of the Philippines’.

Ashley Yee (who is clearly becoming one of my favorite travel videographers to date – just look at how many times I’ve written about him!) says that surfing is even more fun at Cloud 9 because both beginners and professional surfers share the waves there. He adds that, “Though the island is picking in terms of tourism, Siargao remains to be laidback and affordable.” Watch his awesome video on his experience at Cloud 9 here:

According to Ashley, the best thing about the island – other than its waves – are the locals. “It is definitely one of the best communities we have exchanged memories with,” he says.
