WATCH: “Charmed” is Getting a Reboot and the First Trailer is Here!

Charmed Reboot

A lot of ’90s kids grew up watching Charmed, the series following the Halliwell sisters, the most powerful good witches who use the Power of Three to fight demons and warlocks. In eight seasons from 1998 to 2006, sisters Prue, Piper, and Phoebe (and later Paige) captivated the world, becoming the second-longest drama broadcast by the network The WB and the second-longest running hour-long television series featuring all female leads. Up to now, Charmed is the second-most watched television series on subscription video-on-demand services like Amazon Video and Netflix.

A reboot was announced last year and the trailer is now here!

The show will star Melonie Diaz, Madeleine Mantock, and Sarah Jeffery, and will be set in the modern day and will have the characters “vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds.”

News reports revealed that the show will be more feminist, but a lot of people weren’t onboard, saying the original show was already feminist.

Even Holly Marie Combs, who starred with Shannen Doherty and Rose McGowan, tweeted, “Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye.”

With the new trailer out, fans are divided, with some wanting to give it a chance while others completely denounced it.

The reboot will air sometime this year.
