WATCH Britney Spears Posts Teaser on Upcoming VMA Performance

Britney Spears owns the MTV Video Music Awards. She has performed at the awards several times, even giving iconic performances such as the 2001 performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U” with a python, the 2003 kiss with Madonna, and the controversial 2007 performance of “Gimme More,” where she was criticized for her half-hearted performance (yes, we still consider that iconic).

Spears will be back at the VMA stage to perform after almost 10 years. She posted a teaser on video on Facebook, saying, “The VMAs don’t just give you a stage. They give you a story, some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever. Before you know it, it’s history.”

She closed off the video with the iconic phrase, “Before you know it, it’s Britney, b*tch.”

Spears first performed at the VMAS in 1999, where she sang “…Baby One More Time.” Since then, she has won five wins out of the 28 nominations she has received.

This year, she will perform “Make Me…,” a single featuring G-Eazy from her new album Glory. The album will be released two days before the VMAs, which will be held on August 28 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
