WATCH: Anne Curtis Shares Soldier’s Battle of Marawi Video Shot With Her GoPro

With the countless reports and documentaries that have been done on the Marawi siege, you haven’t seen the Battle of Marawi as shot by this soldier.

We suppose we have Anne Curtis to thank for this after she lent her GoPro to First Lt. Bala Tamayo of the Special Forces.

A post shared by Anne Curtis (@annecurtissmith) on

As the actress shared on Instagram, she first met and struck up a friendship with Lt. Tamayo while she was training for her upcoming action movie BuyBust in Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.

I met Bala when we were training and shooting with the Special Forces in Fort Magsaysay for BuyBust. He happened to offer oral rehydration salts during a very hot day in full battle gear and the rest is history. He became friends not only with myself but with everyone part of the BuyBust squad.

Anne also shared that shortly after they became friends, the BuyBust crew learned that Lt. Tamayo and the other troops were to be deployed to Marawi to fight the insurgents.

Shortly after, we learned that the troops were to go fight the war in Marawi. We somewhat kept in touch – which was great because we knew exactly what the soldiers needed during such a harsh time and sent over care packages to somehow boost their morale.

As the actress learned that Lt. Tamayo was also a filmmaker and had done shorts for the Special Forces, she sent her GoPro along with the care package, fully believing that Lt. Tamayo would return the GoPro to her personally.

His words were – “i’ll return it if I survive this war. If I fall, my buddy will return it. That I promise “ I told him that I knew he would NOT fall and HE would personally return the GoPro once the war is over.. and IT IS OVER.

He returned it without even [a] scratch.
