WATCH: Andrew Garfield Plays a War Hero in Upcoming Film Based on a True Story

Did you ever think it was possible for a military man to go to war without any weapon?

Apparently, yes. And it has happened before.

In the upcoming biographical war film, Hacksaw Ridge, Andrew Garfield plays Desmond Doss, an American combat medic who refused to carry a weapon of any kind, even into war. Despite that, Doss showed unbelievable courage and dedication to his job, risking his life many times to save the lives of others fighting to defend their country. This act of bravery and nobility earned him a Medal of Honor, awarded to him by then US President Harry S. Truman.

Andrew Garfield displays his commendable acting chops in this film. Would this finally land him an award? His former girlfriend, Emma Stone, has recently won Best Actress for her portrayal of a struggling actress trying to make it big in Hollywood in the dreamy romantic musical, La La Land.
