When In Manila’s Vince Golangco got to host the media launch of this cool brand’s new line of clothing.
Just wanted to thank Penshoppe for having me host their cool media event, unveiling the new Penshoppe line and trendy new threads.

As summer looms and as city dwellers fuss over the perfect summer destination, the question of updating one’s wardrobe is inevitable. Just when you thought you’ve got all your bases covered, PENSHOPPE does it again as it continues to transport style savants and fashion enthusiasts to breathtaking summer destinations. This time around, the homegrown brand brings its collection to the very popular yet exclusive Misibis Bay Resort.
“We wanted to do the shoot in a place that looks truly international. Misibis is exactly that and Penshoppe wanted to create a campaign that could transport you anywhere,” says PENSHOPPE Brand Director Alex Mendoza. Echoing the picturesque backdrop that is Misibis Bay Resort are the collection’s muted yet cool hues of dusky grays, dreamy blues, stark whites, and sandy browns that will get you in the mood for some sun worship.
The collection also features more mature concoctions: maxi dresses, trousers, and lightweight blazers in fabrics that “can be used in beach parties or urban escapes”— reflecting the brand’s jet-setter approach. But still in line with its design philosophy, Penshoppe’s collection remains casual yet sophisticated.
“They are not intimidating clothes, because you’ll see that they’re still very basic and approachable at heart. It’s how you put them together that makes the statement,” quips Mendoza.
Fronting the summer campaign are “longtime trusted Penhsoppe faces” and well-known fashion figures Solenn Heusaff, Akihiro Sato, Bea Soriano and newcomer Ygor Pignatari. “We wanted to help everyone feel at ease with our new and more sophisticated collection. Ygor is a welcome addition, because he also reflects the kind of international but approachable qualities of the brand,” notes Mendoza.
As Misibis Bay Resort is the perfect getaway for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Penshoppe finds the perfect setting for its summer campaign. “We wanted very sophisticated, jet-setter summer clothes that can be as comfortable on the shore as they are on the streets.”
Whether you prefer a night on the town or a day under the sun, the collection’s offerings can take you from city slicker to seaside chic with just a bit of tweaking—throw on a blazer over your shirt and shorts for a polished look, ditch your shorts and hit the beach in a bikini bottom and wrap-around combo, or do like Coco Chanel and don a striped boat-neck top and breezy trousers, a timeless ensemble. “We had in mind people who need to be very flexible during the season. They can also go to other cities for their summer holidays, and they want to look stylish in any setting,” says Mendoza.
