VIDEO: Two Surfers Created a “Sea Bin” (Trash Can) for Ocean

One word: AMAZING!

When I saw the video, the first thing that came to mind was, “we gotta have this!”

As everyone knows, the Philippines is an emerging tourist destination. Therefore, preserving our natural resources and maintaining the cleanliness of our ocean is a must.

coron, palawan

Coron is one of the municapilities in Palawan and just one of the many tourist attractions found in the Philippines.  It is one of the top 10 best scuba diving sites in the world, as noted by Forbes Traveler Magazine. Moreover, the National Geographic included Philippines as one of the best trips to do in 2016.

However, “with power comes great responsibility.” The more we become famous, the more we need to take care of our nature, especially our pristine beaches. And, the invention of these two Aussie surfers – the “seabin” project – is something we should look into.

SeaBin Aussie surfers

This brilliant initiative according to the video, is an automated in-water marina (harbour/shore/coast for small boats and yachts) bin can collect the following:

  • floating dirt
  • plastic
  • oil
  • fuel
  • detergents

It uses a pump to funnel the dirty stuff found in the ocean into the device and contains an oil-water separator to catch and filter out fuel, oil and detergents in the water for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ultimately, this will be an amazing invention for everyone. You may help contribute to their crowdsourcing campaign, and make it possible.

Watch these two Aussie surfers namely, Pete Ceglinski and Andrew Turton, demonstrate their revolutionary invention that will absolutely save our ocean.

Pete even said: “soon, everyone will enjoy swimming. No more pollution and we can eat better, as fish are healthier.”

Pete and Andrew, good on you guys! Hopefully, we could help further this campaign and eventually be available also in the Philippines!

So, what do you think of their invention? Do you think we would need something like this?
