When In Manila or anywhere in the world, bullying is not something new. We’ve all had our own share of bullying… whether big or small. Some of us experienced this as a kid, while others continue to experience it in their adult life. It’s no laughing matter. Victims of bullying are bullied and ridiculed so much that they sometimes forget who they are and start believing the bad things the bully says about them. Some begin to feel hatred for themselves, while others try and seek revenge in unethical ways.
In a recent episode of Gandang Gabi Vice, an audience member who was called up on stage shared how she is a victim of bullying herself. Pamela Reyes, a 16 year old student shares how her bullies call her ugly and how much this hurts. To some, this may be a very small thing, but please know that bullying is a very serious matter. Being judged, being looked down on and being called ugly… no one deserves this.
(Some people like to be beautiful so others will accept them. Some people like to be beautiful because they want to feel better about themselves, because they want to trust themselves more, and because they just want to be happy)
One of the hardest people to love is ourselves. Vice shares how we can’t force other people to love and accept us, we can’t force other people to think we’re beautiful, but no matter what, WE have to always see the beauty in ourselves. WE always need to love ourselves.
Later on, Vice tells Pamela not to be afraid and that she will join her. Vice then asks for some wipes and proceeds to remove her make up, contact lens, eye lash extensions and even her wig. “Ito ako” (This is me)
