Venom Will Get His Own Movie, Release Date Announced!

Right on the heels of Spider-Man: Homecoming is the confirmation that a spin-off movie for Venom will push through, and will be released on October 5, 2018.

The spin-off has been discussed for many months, but it was confirmed recently when the release date was announced. However, it has not been revealed whether the villain will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or if it will feature Tom Holland, the actor who will play Spider-Man in the reboot. It was said that Holland has signed on to appear in at least five movies.

Venom is considered as one of Spider-Man’s worst enemies. The character first appeared in the comics in 1988, created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. He is described as an alien symbiote that attaches itself to a human host. IGN ranked him as the 22nd Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time in its list of the top 100 comic villains.

To date, there is no director or cast to the spin-off, but a script has already been written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Pinkner wrote the script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Venom was previously portrayed in Spider-Man 3 by Topher Grace.
