The Urban Barber: The Complete “MAN-pering” Experience

Guys typically don’t spend a lot of time shopping for skin care or hair care products, or even searching for barber shops that can do the perfect hairstyles to attract the ladies.

In this day and age, however, looks are important. They might just help you make or break a deal in your social life, career, or love life. This is why we want to share this barbershop: to help you guys find that perfect hairstyle.

I present to you: The Urban Barber, a space carefully thought out by Chad Africa that uses modern industrial urban design to captures the vibe of loft apartments around New York City.

The Urban Barber is committed to completing the “MANpering” experience and caters to millennials, urbanites, corporate workaholics, and everyone else in-between. They offer on-trend and precisely-cut hairstyles in a super cool environment to give you the total package.

When we walked in, we were greeted by amazing graffiti painted on the walls. The ambience feels very cool, rugged, and manly because of the concrete walls and wood furniture (which are eco-friendly, too, by the way!). The music that Urban Barber plays also adds a very nice touch to the whole place. Chad mentions that they carefully curate the songs to complement the vibe of the place (bonus points for playing Florence and the Machine!).

JP and I got to try their haircut service called “A Cut-Above”, described as a ‘precise haircut that’s perfectly styled, and ready for that selfie’ (P350). It includes a hair rinse, personalized haircut, face massage, hot towel, quick shoulder massage, and a bottle of BEER (or coffee).

What I love about their services is that they make your trip to the barbershop more personalized. You can tell them how you want to look and they will execute it flawlessly.

Take JP, for example. He told his barber that he’s tired of getting the same haircut. He wanted to try something new, but not too drastic. What the barber did was retain the haircut, but elevate it by fixing the length of his hair and skillfully buzzing a faded side.

Courtney was lucky enough to try their upcoming service for females called the “Hair-aphy”, which repairs the damaged parts of the hair to make it feel soft and smooth.

We took some OOTD photos, too! After all, the place was a great area to capture our new hairstyles in, thanks to the natural light coming in through the window. Tthe industrial design of the space, and the beautiful graffiti paintings also make this barbershop very Instagram-worthy!
