Those who are interested in knowing which candidates would best represent the UP Diliman student population are encouraged to attend UPFront 2017. Organized by the UP Economics Society, a non-stock, non-profit socio-civic organization, and in partnership with over 40 student organizations and local student councils, the forum will be held on March 30, Thursday, 5:30 PM at the UP Film Institute.

UPFront is the largest and most recognized University Student Council (USC) elections forum of UP Diliman. It gives the candidates of the upcoming USC elections a platform to articulate their visions and plans and to debate about their stances on various issues inside and outside the university. This, in turn, stimulates discourse amongst the student body.

“Through this forum, the UP Economics Society promotes critical thinking and emphasizes the need for informed decisions when voting for student leaders,” explained Franceska Louise Faraon, External Relations director of UPFront 2017. “Ultimately, we aim to create a well-informed and well-educated student population that in turn would vote for a University Student Council that represents them well.”

Since its founding nearly 60 years ago, the UP Economics Society has proved itself as a student organization that realizes its role as a prime mover of youth dynamism and leadership. Being one of the country’s front-running and most awarded economics organizations, it is anchored on the values of service, excellence, and tradition. The organization has also dedicated itself to the provision of quality and accessible education to its scholars, and an array of diverse activities geared towards the holistic well-being of its nearly 300 members and more than 1,000 alumni.
