Truth in itself has been put on trial, allowing it to be tortured and paraded as its counter pole: untruth. Truth in itself became untrue. As to this charge, the truth has yet to recover; nevertheless, it still did not hinder the old guard from chasing shadows of the ephemeral dream.
As purveyors of thoughts and truths, we still attempt to attain towards answers as regards the truth of matters and truth itself whenever and if ever it were possible. The adage, In Vino Veritas (in wine, there is truth), tells us that even in the most unlikely of places, truth can be found.
UP Philosophical Society invites you to its biggest event: a symposium entitled “In Vino Veritas.” This is inspired by Plato’s Symposium, combining an animated discussion of the social and philosophical facets of language, ethics, and metaphysics with an open venue that allows casual drinking for its speakers and audience with the aim of arriving at the truth.
This year’s speakers will be Dr. Zosimo Lee, former dean of the College of Social Science and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman, Dr. Agustin Martin Rodriguez, former head of the Department of Philosophy of Ateneo de Manila University, Dr. Paolo Bolaños, current head of the Department of Philosophy of University of Santo Tomas, and Dr. Ramon Guillermo, from the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman. This event is on the 22nd of September 2017 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the University Hotel, UP Diliman campus. Tickets are priced at Php 150.00 each, inclusive of one free drink.
