“Hala, Darla!” is a play that illuminates the power of love in its different forms– unconditional love, romantic love, and love for the people.

It tells us the story of a doll who, strengthened by her disposition, sets out on a journey back to her owner; a journey which will revolve around the unforeseen – defying one’s ideals unexpected camaraderie, and found families. Starting off with a heart-stopping feat, one will surely want to keep their eyes open for the next.

Set in the world of toys, this play will please our eyes with colors, playful manipulations fueled by imagination, and a bit of dancing and singing, sending us back to the wonders of our childhood where everything is not simply black and white.

“Hala, Darla!” will not just serve as a breather in our fast-paced lives governed by schedules but it will also underscore the value of finding the perfection in imperfections.

This theatrical play is produced by the BA Philippine Arts students of the University of the Philippines Manila as a fulfillment of the requirements for their Production Workshop (PA 163) class. The PA 163 class has produced highly successful plays in the past, staging them with a mix of amateur and professional actors. These plays, such as Pluwent, Pingkian, Nardo, and Ibong Adarna, have all been highly regarded and were staged before sold out crowds.

Catch “Hala, Darla!” on April 22 at 1pm and 6pm at the 995-seater St. Cecilia’s Hall of St. Scholastica’s College Manila. For tickets and inquiries, contact Christiana Catu at 09053531858.
