On its 16th year, UP Kalipunan para sa Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiyang Pilipino (UP KAPPP) brings you Balintataw: Pagslip sa Nakaraan, Pagkilala sa Hinaharap—a month-long affair of looking back in celebration of things accomplished, and in preparation for things to come.

The first week of October saw the organization’s rousing anniversary exhibit at the Palma Hall lobby, featuring a gallery of current members, and a layout consisting of a primer, event list and graphic offerings.

UP KAPPP had also conducted the “Patsuper: Para sa mga Tsuper,” where they handed out supplies and freebies to UP’s community of jeepney drivers as a way of giving back.

The high point of Balintataw is the anniversary forum, bringing to fore the ideas that have brought the organization this far. “Salinlahi: Kulturang Kabataan Noong 90’s at Kasalukuyan” is a three-hour forum boasting of sessions from professors from the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. The main thrust of the forum is to explore just what has changed between the kids of then and today.

UP KAPPP’s other events include the “Grand Pakain” on the 20th of October and the culminating get-together “Pakantert: Pakulo at Entertainment” on the 28th.

Balintataw would not be possible without the partnership of Buklod CSSP, Iuvenis Orbis Geological Fraternity, UP ALYANSA, UP Anna na Cagayan, UP Lipunang Pangkasaysayan, UP Mining Engineering Society, UP Piccola Italia, UP Science and Mathematics Majors Advocating Responsible Teaching, and UP Tomo-Kai.
