The Engineering Innovations Congress 2018, organized by the UP Diliman Engineering Student Council, is inviting all Engineering students to its line up of events this coming January 27-28, 2018. Fueled by the theme Social Entrepreneurial Engineering, this year’s Congress will feature an exhibit and a weeklong Innovations Fair. The fair shall showcase different projects that aim to promote sustainability in local communities in aspects such as water, sanitation and hygiene, waste treatment, renewable energy, disability access, and affordable housing and construction among others.
These projects shall compete against one another in the hopes of winning Php 30,000 cash in the Engineering Innovations Expo on January 28. Special awards such as People’s Choice Award, Best Oral Presenter, and Best Poster shall also be given.
On January 27, 8:00-4:30 pm, there will be a Symposium wherein students and professors alike can hear different talks on Social Entrepreneurial Engineering, starting from idea generation to community and nation-building. A workshop shall follow after all the talks. This event is open to all and free for all! Participants will be provided with a symposium kit, snacks, lunch, and freebies!
After the Expo proper, all Expo participants will proceed to the Socials Night for the awarding and the culmination of the Engineering Innovations Congress. This shall provide an avenue for the students to socialize with co-participants and invited company representatives and angel investors. To be held in the UP Diliman University Hotel, the Socials Night will be a night of fun and celebration over dinner and music by invited performers.
As engineers, our job is to not only improve our skills. It is also our mission to pursue sustainability, social responsibility, and nation-building. We are part engineers, part social entrepreneurs. It’s time to be imaginative, inventive and innovative, and it all starts with an idea.
