Tyrol (German: Tirol) is a federal state in Western Austria in the heart of Europe; but in Bacolod City, Tyrol is best known for slaying Austrian/German food since 2014. As a local of Bacolod, I have nothing but gratitude for Tyrol for bringing pimped out sausages and kick-ass pork knuckles to a city of chicken inasal and cansi.

Inspired by biergartens, Tyrol has an outdoor area where you can enjoy the cool breeze and a cold beer. They have a great selection of wines and local and German beers, perfect to pair with their authentic German dishes.

The air-conditioned main room resembles the beer halls of Germany with its long tables, decor and lively vibe. They also have a wine room for a more intimate setting; it is also great for private functions.

Their Executive Chef Dennis Lamsfuss prepares the showstoppers of Tyrol. On the other hand, Tyrol’s manager, Mr. Daniel Sokoll curates each dish and shares how they value the freshness and quality of their food while staying true to their roots.

Then came the showstoppers. Their King Ludwig Platter (P1995) is a feast made for 6 to 8 people and includes the pork schnitzel, roasted pork knuckle, German sausages, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes. Each dish can be ordered separately, too. Believe me: it’s worth the splurge… and the calories!

Also worth the calories: Pork Medallions (P275), Cheese Spaetzle (P275) and Mozart Pancake (P195). The shining star on their menu has to be the pork knuckle, though. It’s enormous, and perfectly tender and fatty; yet crispy on the outside— my personal favorite. It definitely outshines the other pork knuckles I had in Germany (please don’t tell the Germans I said so).

Expect to go home stuffed. Possibly with leftovers, too. Prost!
