It has always been quite difficult to find a nice hotel when you are in a budget, but during my recent vacation in Puerto Princesa, I found that budget doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. There are hotels like Citystate Asturias that gives good value for your money. And, it’s right in the heart of Puerto Princesa. It is in the perfect location where you can have easy access to the airport, Honda Bay, Underground River, and more. There are even services going to El Nido and other parts of Palawan.
Upon arrival, I knew I was in for a treat. Though the hotel is in the middle of the city, Asturias gives you a feeling of tranquility—a dose of the island life. And what is island life without a relaxing wade in the water? Asturias provides you that with their wonderful swimming pool found in the middle of the hotel where most rooms are facing.
The pool area even has lounge chairs, an area for the kids, and a jacuzzi.
Aside from the pool, Asturias also has a gym—so you can still stay fit while on vacation! The equipment at Citystate Asturias’ gym are well kept, and the room gives off a feeling of privacy.
There is also a game-karaoke room where you can hang with your friends, drink, and have a good time. You may want to arrange this along with your reservation as you need to request for it to be opened. The room comes complete with a flat screen television, audio system, pool table, karaoke set-up, and air-conditioning. And good news for the smokers—yes, you can smoke inside here.
As for the rooms, there are different types you can choose from here, but what I loved most was the suite. The suite comes with its own small kitchen, dining area, living room, and a full bath. This room is perfect for couples looking for quite time together and just want to stay inside for the ideal staycation. It’s like being home away from home.
The restaurant, located near the entry of the hotel, offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet on top of the room service. They are one of the few hotels in Palawan who offers buffets the whole day. You have to watch out for some local delicacies like the fresh bangus and danggit which I absolutely loved.
During one dinner, Asturias served us a fresh catch which the chef specially cooked in front of us. I’ve heard the food is good in Asturias, so I tried their menu offerings and fell in love with all the seafood they serve. It all tasted so fresh—everything was perfect.
If you want a tour around Puerto Princesa, Asturias also has an in-house tour service which you can avail during your stay. You can go around the city, visit different islands, and, of course, see the world-famous Underground River.
Accessibility is one of the most common key elements in finding good accommodations, and how does it get more accessible than being 10 minutes away from Puerto Princesa Airport and only 2 minutes away from the nearest mall, Robinsons Puerto Princesa? As a frequent traveler, I have learned how hotel accessibility is so important, and so I deeply appreciate Citystate Asturias’ great location.
But that is even the least of all the good things about this hotel. There are many! From the rooms, amenities, service, and the food (the food!), my family and I found utmost enjoyment and comfort in Citystate Asturias, and isn’t that the point of going on vacations after all? To rediscover fun and enjoyment?
We certainly found that in Citystate Asturias.
