Going to visit my filipina GF for the first time! any tips?

I’ve booked my plane ticket to finally meet up with my girl friend in the Philippines. We’ve been together for about 5 months now but this will be the first time we get to meet in person and as you can imagine I’m very excited.

I’m just nervous about some of the “culture clash” I may experience. She lives in Mindanao with her brother and I’ll be staying in the home they share. She says they are very close and it shouldn’t be a problem, as apparently it’s common for boyfriends/girlfriends to move in for extended periods with their family present.

She warned me that i’ll probably be expected to take her family out for dinner quite a bit out of custom, so I’m planning to bring a good deal of extra cash with me.

I’m just wondering if you can give me any tips about how to better fit in and not stick out like a sore thumb lol.
