When In Manila and if you think that it is Steve Jobs that made your iPhone the way it is today, then you are so wrong. No offense to Steve Jobs who I think made the entire smartphone revolution happen but I would like to spend time to inform you about someone who moved a bigger cog into the technology wheel.

Dennis Ritchie is the man who invented C programming language, this is the foundation of the code used in iOS applications which are written in Objective C. The C programming language is also the basis of Java which of course we know is used by many businesses as well as the very lovable Android OS.

Aside from that, he also founded UNIX, which is core to LINUX operating systems. Well, if you don’t know… most websites that we know and love are hosted using LINUX servers, you know sites like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google… heck even WhenInManila is hosted on a LINUX server.

Sadly, Dennis Ritchie died last Oct. 12, 2011… and no he did not have a very big media coverage like what Steve had so here I am trying to give him this post as a small tribute to the man that made all of these big things possible. To Dennis Ritchie, kudos and thank you for all your contributions to the tech industry.
