When in Manila, one of the best things to do if you’re looking for a fun adventure is to spend the day bonding with your pets. After all, your beloved pet is a member of your family, so they deserve to be taken out once in a while to see new places and meet new people.
Now, you might think that you will be hard-pressed to find great places to bond with your pet in Manila, but you may be surprised at how many places actually allow pets. All you have to do is 1) make sure that your pet is kept on a leash or in a carrier, 2) always clean up after your pets, and 3) make sure your pet has the proper amount of socialisation, so that it doesn’t get too nervous, excited, or aggressive when meeting new people and animals.

5.U.P Diliman Sunken Garden
The Sunken Garden in U.P Diliman is the perfect place for people who want to spend time with their pets while getting closer to nature at the same time. What could beat a lazy afternoon in the Sunken Garden, where you can laze the afternoon away with your pets while sitting under the shade of the trees and doing some people-watching? There are usually a lot of other families with pets here, too; so if you want your pet to socialize with other animals, this would be a great place to do so.
One concern: leash laws around U.P. do not allow dogs without a leash to wander around, especially if they are large breeds.
My experience: When I brought my pug there, he had an awesome time romping around and watching people playing soccer.
4. Tiendesitas
True shopaholics who love buying accessories for their pets will love Tiendesitas! Not only will you be able to bring your pets with you, but you will also be able to eat at the nearby food court and visit different clothing and accessories shops with your pets in tow. All the stores in Tiendesitas are pet-friendly, so you won’t need to worry about asking permission. Just make sure that your pets behave in the stores. The pet stores here carry pretty much everything that you will need to make and keep your pets happy and healthy – from pet food and cages to clothing and grooming supplies.
Added bonus: you can also bring your pet to the nearby Avillon Ark, where you can spend an awesome afternoon looking at wildlife together.
My experience: My pug freaked out a little bit when he heard the Cockatoos laughing above him. He was pretty puzzled as to why the birds’ laughter sounded like human laughter.
3. Bonifacio High Street
If you love dog-watching, Bonifacio High Street should be your top choice if you want to see people with expensive and hard-to-find breeds around Manila. Most of the shops here allow dogs inside, and all of the restaurants have outside seating, so you can enjoy al fresco dining with your pets, too. For those looking for a little bit of exercise, people jogging with their dogs are also a common sight here, as well.
One of the best shops to visit with your pets at BHS would be Hobbes and Landes. They offer a wide variety of pet toys and treats, and if you’re lucky enough to be there during one of their pet-themed events, you can even get your picture with your pets placed on their wall!
My experience: It was a perfect day to spend with my pug and my best friend: clear blue skies, cool afternoon air, and just the right amount of people walking around, admiring my little bugger.
2. Quezon City Circle
Spending an afternoon with your pets doesn’t have to be expensive at all! Quezon City Circle is open to pet owners, and this is such an awesome place to let your pets have some fun. Take your dogs for a walk around the park and watch people flock around your pets, wanting to stroke them. If you want to have a unique experience with your dog, you can even rent a bike with a sidecar and take a ride with your dog as your passenger. You might get a few funny looks, but who cares? You and your beloved pooch will have fun!

1. Eastwood
Imagine a whole mall that allows you to bring your pets with you pretty much everywhere: that’s Eastwood! You can shop, eat, and hang out; and if you want to watch a movie (which is the only place here that doesn’t allow pets), you can leave your loved ones at Dogs in the City. Of course, the mall reinforces the basic pet rules, though, such as keeping them on a leash and cleaning up after them, but there are doggie bags available all over Eastwood, so you can easily pick up after your pets in case of accidents.
My experience: After a tiring day of walking around and playing with other dogs, I decided to sit down outside of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and order some pastries. Above are my dog’s begging faces.
