On a damp but cheerful night at Mercato Centrale, Bonifacio Global City, De La Salle University students presented a night of good music, good food, and the spirit of charity together with TOMS (of which I am becoming a regular writer for!). The TOMS Good Folk Fest was exactly that – a night of good vibes and good giving.

 Art for a cause indeed!
Â
The event was part of the campus tour of TOMS, whereby the organization will “set-up shop” so to speak in different campuses all around the metro, and increase awareness on projects such as the famous One for One program. The One for One is TOMS commitment to sustainable development; for every pair of shoes you buy, another pair (and subsequent pairs!) is given to a child from a less fortunate community. In case you’re wondering, yes, TOMS has been a ‘good folk‘ and given pairs of shoes to communities here in the P.I.

You give what you can – be a good folk to someone!
Â
Â
Yes, even the beer.
Â
The TOMS Good Folk Fest featured local bands which entertained guests as they took photos at the photobooth provided, or knocked back a beer or two. The drinks were pretty much free-flowing, and guests were free to give however much they wish for their drinks, in good faith as their money would go to a charitable organization. Nicole Andersson’s hosting also kept the crowd lively and interactive.

Â
Live music for the night.

When in Manila, bring your friends to arts for a cause!
Â
On one side of the tented venue were three wooden walls, which were subsequently painted over by the incredibly talented artists Dee Jae and Frank Magalona. From what I know, these artworks will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to charitable organizations with engagement with TOMS.

TOMS Good Folk Fest art!

Fantastic.

Â
I’m pleased to say that a student group, together with TOMS, put together an event such as this Good Folk Fest. Not only was there a good cause to give to, but good music and good company to boot as well. When it comes to positive events, TOMS-related ones are a good bet.
