Let’s admit it: we have all had our forgetful moments. Whether it be events or something more important like car keys, one way or another, we’ve all faced the struggles of not being able to find what we need when necessary. Last 2013, I saw an advertisement for TILE, one of the most interesting kickstarter projects with a whole bunch of potential. Imagine finding your items with a small gadget and detecting it with your smartphone using bluetooth — that’s pretty ingenious, right? You can also make it ring ala missing cellphone if you feel like it. Almost 2 years later, the project is finally up and about, and it has reached our country.

In 2014, Tile was funded $13 million through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Starting out as a small venture by Mike Farley and Nick Evans, the project has gone viral through social sharing and various social media channels, garnering enough backers for them to produce and distribute their brainchild. Being the “world’s largest lost and found”, the item uses various tools like bluetooth, GPS, and iCloud to create a community where everyone can find whatever they need to.

The Tile App can easily be downloaded through the Google Playstore and the Apple App Store, so there isn’t any excuse for you not to use your Tile as soon as you received it. However, the application is only compatible with a limited number of phones; you can check their website for more details. The application also needs a GPS setup, as well as a Bluetooth 4.0 to locate your items. Setting up the Tile is pretty easy, though — all you need is to open your device, log in the details of the item, and put the Tile on top of your phone. The Bluetooth will then register the details accordingly, and you can set your items’ ringtones (yes, they will ring if you want them to), among many other features.

Aside from finding it within your range, Tile also lets other users find your items! This is perfect for families and group of friends who live in the same place.
