With the hundreds of dining options in Boracay and countless establishment claiming to have the “best of: burgers, steak, pizza, etc,” it’s easy to get overwhelmed with too many options! But Tilapia ‘N Chips really caught my eye with the guarantee of good food or you get it for free! Now thats an offer thats hard to resist! Add to the fact that I’m a self confessed fries addict, I simply HAD to try what they had to offer at Tilapia ‘N Chips.

And so far, they haven’t had to refund a client ever since Tilapia ‘N Chips opened last year.

Being a fries lover, I was immediately happy to discover that they served nice and golden thick-cut fries instead of the puny, pale shoestring fries. Good fries are a good sign for me that a restaurant cares about quality and taste.
With a name like Tilapia ‘N Chips, obviously the signature dish is a plate of fish and fries. And over here they serve it in two ways: Asian and English style.
Go Asian with the Golden Deep Fried Tilapia and you get the whole fish; head, skin, fins and all, battered, fried and splayed on a paper lined basket. Tilapia is actually my favorite fish of all time, so it was a no brainer that I’d enjoy eating this dish. I personally think that leaving on all the fish bits keep the natural flavors intact making it even tastier and crunchier
Golden Deep Fried Tilapia
The English style fish and chips are the Crunchy Beer Battered dory fish strips. Now if you’re a beer lover like me, you’d probably get excited about the beer batter fish because beer makes everything better, right? Of course! But don’t expect the fish to taste like beer as its not added for flavor, but something about the bubbles and alcohol content makes for a nice crunchy crust while keeping the fish inside moist, juicy and super delicious.

Either way you like it, whether Asian or English, one thing that definitely stands out about the fried food at Tilapia ‘N Chips is that you get all the great flavors without any of the greasiness. The fish tastes fresh and good enough to eat on its own, or have it seasoned with an array of condiments to suit your own taste buds.

This pure beef patty was pretty intimidating at first sight due to its sheer size. But what I really liked about this burger was that it was a straightforward, no nonsense, beef burger where you can actually appreciate the simple and delicious flavor of real beef. I was happy with the grilled taste and minimal toppings that I perked up with a couple squirts of ketchup and mustard. Simple, juicy and again – just real natural flavors and no greasiness. I was surprised I was able to finish the entire burger on my own without feeling nauseous afterward, which was mostly due to the fact that it was all natural with no additives.

What I also really enjoyed about Tilapia ‘N Chips, apart from the food, was that the place was quiet, clean, air-conditioned, had free wifi and really friendly staff. This for me is a winning combination for any eating establishment, especially in Boracay where it serves as a respite in the middle of a bustling beach. They also are an environmentally aware establishment and use paper lining and bags to pack their food as a green practice. Plus, Tilapia ‘N Chips delivers anywhere on the island for free and for no minimum order. Can it get any better than that? Well actually, yes! Chef Bill plans to add more items to the menu including Poutine, a traditional Canadian style fries plate, which I’m very excited to come back and try.
