Three Filipino Movies Competing at Portugal’s Film Fest

Three Filipino movies are set to compete at the 38th Oporto International Film Festival (also called Fantasporto 2018), an annual film festival in Portugal that screens and promotes quality films from around the world.

Here are the three Filipino movies that are hoping to do great at Fantasporto 2018:

3. ‘Ilawod’ by Dan Villegas

‘Ilawod’ is a horror film that is directed by Dan Villegas, starring Ian Veneracion, Iza Calzado, Harvey Bautista, Xyriel Manabat, and Therese Malvar among others. It is about a family fighting to save their lives and souls from the water spirit called Ilawod.

2. ‘Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B’ by Prime Cruz

Another horror film that is competing at the festival is Prime Cruz’s ‘Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B.’  The film captures the gory romance between a woman, who is secretly a manananggal, and a heartbroken man. It stars Ryza Cenon, Martin del Rosario, Vangie Labalan, and Cholo Barretto among others.

1. ‘Bhoy Intsik’ by Joel Lamangan

Then there’s ‘Bhoy Intsik’ by Joel Lamangan, a film about two crooks who meet and become caught up in a string of petty exploits. It stars RS Francisco, Ronwaldo Martin, and Jeric Raval among others.

Fantasporto 2018 runs from February 4 to March 4, 2018.
