This Throwback Photo of “10 Things I Hate About You” is Giving Us Feels

In 1999, the film 10 Things I Hate About You came out, introducing us to a young and talented cast who would eventually make it big. Yes, some have already found some measure of success before the film, but it would catapult many of them to stardom.

For #ThrowbackThursday, one of the stars decided to go nostalgic and recall the good times during filming. Gabrielle Union, who played Chastity Church, posted an Instagram photo of the cast with the caption, “Just a bunch of kids having the time of our lives up in Tacoma/Seattle … 1st movie & an experience that I’ll never forget. The best/coolest/most generous group of people to share my 1st film experience. What a time man. ❤ and eternal light #RIPHeath #10thingsihateaboutyou #CanYouEverJustBeWhelmed.”

In the photo is Union with Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, David Krumholtz, Andrew Keegan, and Larisa Oleynik.

10 Things I Hate About You is a modern retelling of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, set in high school. In the film, Gordon-Levitt stars as Cameron, who is in love with Oleynik’s character Bianca. However, her father is strict, so Cameron plots a plan where he gets Ledger’s Patrick to go out with Bianca’s ill-tempered sister Kat, played by Stiles.

The film was well-received, with Rotten Tomatoes saying that “Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger add strong performances to an unexpectedly clever script, elevating 10 Things (slightly) above typical teen fare.”

The film was Union’s first and she would later star in two other popular high school movies: She’s All That and Bring It On.
