“Rewrite the Stars” is a duet between Zac Efron’s character Phillip Carlyle, the show’s playwright, and Zendaya’s character Anne Wheeler, an acrobat and trapeze artist.
The Greatest Showman tells the true to life story of PT Barnum, an American showman who founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1871, which promoted circus hoaxes like the Feejee Mermaid and Tom Thumb. He was one of the greatest advertisers, drawing in crowds for things that he claims they have never seen before.
The film is directed by Michael Gracey and stars Hugh Jackman, Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya.
It has received mixed reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes saying “The Greatest Showman tries hard to dazzle the audience with a Barnum-style sense of wonder – but at the expense of its complex subject’s far more intriguing real-life story.”
It will premiere on January 31, 2018.
