Earlier this year, boxer Manny Pacquiao made news when he said that gay people are worse than animals. In an interview for a local television network, he said, “It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female. If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals.” He later apologized, then posted an Instagram picture citing a Bible scripture that said gay people should be put to death.
But one street sign is not having it. A street sign on the corner of Shaw Boulevard and Roxas Street in Barangay San Antonio, Pasig states, “What Manny Pacquiao said about gay people was hurtful and really amazingly dumb. Think before you speak.” In fine print, the sign says, “The jackalope loves you unconditionally.”
This is the third sign in the same spot. Previously, the sign said, “God sees you when you’re being an asshole. Be kind. The jackalope wants you to be happy” and “Jose Rizal took a bullet in his back so you could vote. Think. Then vote. The jackalope wants you to have good leaders.”
