There's a Movie About Emojis and the Trailer Actually Looks Promising

Who would have thought that there would be a movie about emojis and that it actually looks good? Well, this is the time we live in, and we’re actually excited to see this.

The movie, aptly titled The Emoji Movie, is set in the land of emojis. Each emoji has a certain trait and are expected to convey that trait their whole lives. But Gene, a meh emoji, realizes that he’s capable of more than one emotion, and he goes on a journey to discover himself and be who he truly is.

One of the trailer’s most promising parts is the Loser Lounge, where the emojis that never get used hang out. For some strange reason, the eggplant emoji is there. As the film’s tagline goes, it’s “not easy being meh.”

The film is co-written and directed by Tony Leondis, and stars the voices of T.J. Miller, Anna Faris, James Corden, Patrick Stewart, Maya Rudolph, Steven Wright, Rob Riggle, Jennifer Coolidge, Jake T. Austin, and Sofia Vergara. That’s a sweet cast right there.

The Emoji Movie will premiere on July 28, 2017.
