THE WORLD OF DESIGN COMES TOGETHER AT THE PHILIPPINES INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE SHOW

PIFS 2017 - Social Media post (WIM)

The Philippines International Furniture Show is a showcase of furniture where people from all around the globe fly thousands of milestowitness authentic Filipino design. Thousands of visitors and trade buyers come from countries such as the US, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, China, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and India, proving that PIFSis a top sourcing destination in the ASEAN circuit.

Considered the Milan of Asia, this trade show is organized by the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation Inc. (CFIF), the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP), and the Pampanga Furniture Industries Foundation (PFIF). Its next run is set on March 9 to 11, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center Manila alongside Interior & Design Manila 2017, a curated show by the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, Inc. (PIID).

“Filipinos are known to bring their hearts to work,” shared Eduardo Zuluaga, Exhibit Chairman of CFIP. “Philippine-made furniture reflects the soul of the artisans who put into shape the designers’ vision. PIFS is the best place to see this and we hope people leave the event inspired by and in awe of our Filipino furniture designers.”

Previously, PIFS reached another record breaking 6,082 in visitor count and 50% of which were trade buyers from 39 different countries across the world. Not only do PIFS hit numbers, the show has brought world renowned speakers and global experts in the Philippines to share their knowledge and expertise on what they do best, namely product designers and innovators Karim Rashid and Paola Navonne; celebrity interior designers, Nathan Turner and Mary McDonald; as well as marketing and trend professionals Michelle Lamb.Last March 2016, Daniel Levine of Avant Guide Institute, a leading trend specialist based in New York, was invited to address the industry on the subject of global preferences.  Through his participative presentations the audiences were able to identify how their product could be further developed to meet upcoming market requirements.

Across all areas of creativity, the Philippines has a strong reputation for originality and new, often ground-breaking, interpretation. Filipino furniture designers are known as a competitive bunch, that’s why PIFS is often a showcase of variety and distinction. “We see PIFS as the Filipino Collection. It is where we show the world, and our colleagues at home, how we interpret the latest industry trends, and in many cases, take the lead in design innovation,” said added Zuluaga.

The show does not only rely on the designers’ collection, but also grows as a show itself. Stimulating and interactive activities are conducted for young professionals namely Interior Design Plus, Interior Design Excellence Award Pavilion and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Conference where known personalities in the industry are invited to share knowledge on their field of expertise.

“With over a hundred booths from manufacturers from across various Philippine regions, PIFS is one of the must-see events in the Asian design circuit,” said Christina Gaston, Overall Exhibit Chair.“Here, we offer a variety of products to see and people to meet – from designers, hotel owners, real estate developers, contractors, manufacturers, celebrities, and design enthusiasts. PIFS is not just an exhibition. It’s an experience to remember.”
