Finally, we made it to breakfast.
I decided on pancakes with mango and macadamia nuts. My friend chose waffles with bananas and almonds. Both came with eggs, a choice of meat, fruit, mango juice, coffee, and of course maple and chocolate syrup. We ate in the breezy and bright breakfast room at the back of the hotel. The next day, we got breakfast ordered up to our room and ate on the balcony. You can do that because the Theodore hotel staff is beyond friendly and helpful.
After breakfast, we went on the hotel’s really excellent Taal Volcano trekking package, which included a van, boat, and horse ride. Afterwards, we came back to the hotel and got massages at the spa.
The Theodore Hotel really is one of the coolest and most original hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of snoring in. It’s fun but it doesn’t go out of it’s way to be so, and it has personality without beating you over the head with it. It’s filled with little touches and flourishes that make staying there feel like a treasure hunt. When in Manila and looking to get out of town for a weekend, head to the the Theodore Hotel in Tagaytay. And tell the ceiling girl Josh says hi.
