The Philippine Chess Team Wins Gold and Silver at the SEA Games!

The Philippines is on a roll at the Southeast Asian Games.

We now have 146 medals, made up of 65 golds, 45 silvers, and 36 bronzes.

The chess team has contributed three to that impressive tally, winning two gold awards and one silver.

Grandmasters Eugene Torre, Darwin Laylo, and Paulo Bersamina walked away with the gold after winning the Men’s Chess Team Problem Solving event. Meanwhile, Janelle Mae Frayna, Catherine Secopito, and Shania Mendoza won silver in the Women’s Chess Team Problem Solving.

Jan Emmanuel Garcia also won a gold award in the individual online chess event.
