We might still be waiting for an actual trailer for the 8th season but at least HBO’s thrown us a bone with these new official photos from the Game of Thrones final season. While the photos may not necessarily tell us much by way of plot, that’s not going to keep us from dissecting and obsessing over them.

We left off last season with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen making their journey North. The pair had been getting intimate and it looks like that closeness endures in the next season.
Some speculate that since the pair still looks to be very friendly, these stills were probably taken before the Lyanna-Rhaegar history was revealed to them.
Tyrion still looks as unhappy as he did when we last saw him on that boat. Jeremy Podeswa, the episode’s director, confessed that the dour look was a result of “feeling a combination of jealousy and concern.” He’s especially worried about what this romantic development could mean for the political alliance.
Of course, a new setting calls for a new wardrobe. Aside from the winds of winter, we wonder if those furs are there protect her from other things — like the icy behaviors of the Starks.

In contrast to Dany, Jon looks right at home in the cold with Winterfell as a backdrop. He may look stressed and angsty (as usual), but that could just be the weight of being King in the North.
Hopefully, that weight is alleviated even a little bit with a much-awaited Stark reunion. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting 6 seasons for Arya to see her favorite brother again. The fact that you can spy needle on her waist here is already making me emotional!
Sansa, as always, looking the poised and polished lady. I am personally hoping she gets a Queen in the North arc once everyone realizes Jon is actually the rightful ruler of the seven kingdoms.
Speaking of revelations, we also get a broody Bran. Perhaps he’s trying to discern the mysteries of the past/future once again, or simply figuring out how to tell Jon that his current romantic entanglement is actually his aunt.
Then there’s Sam Tarly, who’s one of the only characters looking bright and chipper. He doesn’t seem too bothered by the prospect of Jon being a Targaryen.
Strangely enough, one of the only other characters sporting a smile is Jaime Lannister. It seems being able to escape his sister/lover has done him a world of good. Many hope that his journey ends in Winterfell as well, or somewhere in the North at the very least. A reunion with Brienne or reconciliation with Tyrion would just be the cherry on top.
Lastly, the only character left in the south: Cersei Lannister. Season 7 ended with a reveal of her pregnancy, but with the series coming to an end is a baby really the most likely end scenario here? A miscarriage would make more sense.
