The glorious legacy continues as the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority celebrate their 85th year on August 23-31, 2018 with Mu Week 2018 “Signum: Glory Forged in Flames,” a week-long celebration of their brotherhood and sisterhood, responsible leadership, advancement of scholastic and cultural welfare, and an unselfish spirit of self-denying service.

To start things off, an Opening Ceremony of the Grand Exhibit will be held at the elevator lobby of the Philippine General Hospital, with prominent alumni who have become leaders in their own field as guest speakers. The celebration continues in the afternoon with the annual Fiesta at the Hut, a grand feast to welcome the freshmen to their new medical community.

On the 24th, Mu Rock, the first and only live rockeoke party in the college will end the week on a high note with music, drinks, and good vibes. Attendees will include freshmen on first-month-in-med high, undergraduate members of the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority, as well as residents, practicing physicians and consultants.

The celebration continues on the 28th with Money Talks, a learning workshop that deals with the basics of personal financial management and the stock market. Participants will learn how to increase their savings and invest properly.

For the Scholarship pillar of the Sorority and Fraternity, a Dermatology Kodachrome Review will be conducted on the 29th to guide the freshmen on the exam that will give them their first taste of medical school. Prizes will be given to active students who can answer the lecturer’s questions.

The event to be held on both the 29th and 30th is ImMUnity, an awareness campaign that seeks to promote the importance of disease prevention through immunization, especially among health practitioners. It continues to be a great success since its launch during the 75th year celebration of the Mu Sigma Sorority back in 2009.

On the final day of Mu Week 2018, Lukso ng Dugo will be held in the spirit of Mu Sigma Phi’s pillar of Service. This is a blood-letting project that helps address our nation’s blood deficit and aid in sustaining the needs of indigent Filipinos in the Philippine General Hospital. Finally, a Thanksgiving Mass will be offered in the Philippine General Hospital chapel as an expression of gratitude to the Lord Almighty who has guided the Mu Sigma Phi and all its members in their various endeavors throughout the years.

Join the Mu Sigma Phi in this glorious celebration. Because who rocks? MU ROCKS!
