The Last Season of “Game of Thrones” Will Only Start Shooting in October

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones‘ seventh season is currently ongoing, but we’re happy to report that news is trickling in regarding its eighth season, which will be its last.

However, the news may not be that great. According to star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in an interview with Collider, they will start shooting in October. This is much later than the traditional setup, where they start filming during the summer and finish at the end of the year. This may mean that the final season will take longer than expected to screen.

It’s worth noting that the final season will be considerably shorter, with just six episodes. However, rumors are swirling that the episodes will be longer. For example, season seven’s finale has been confirmed to be more than 80 minutes long.

Whatever the case, a longer wait is okay since it will result in a mindblowing finale to an acclaimed series.

Since the show premiered in 2011, it garnered a wide fanbase and widespread critical acclaim. In total, Game of Thrones has won 38 Emmy awards.

Game of Thrones is an adaptation of George RR Martin’s fantasy series of novels and follows different dynasties as they aim to succeed the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms.
