King Bally Entertainment Group is proud to announce the impending arrival of NBA All-Star player Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Milwaukee Bucks breakout star will be in Manila on July 23, 2017, to grace the event aptly titled “The Greek Freak Invades Manila.” Basketball fans can catch a glimpse of the Greek phenomenon at the Glorietta Activity Center Palm Drive from 4:00 pm onwards.
At the event, Antetokounmpo will be showing off his skills through several exhibition drills alongside PBA greats Gabe Norwood (Rain or Shine Elasto Painters/Gilas Pilipinas) and Ranidel de Ocampo (TNT KaTropa/Gilas Pilipinas). Collegiate Basketball stars Vince Tolentino (Ateneo Blue Eagles), Thomas Torres (DLSU Green Archers) and Marco Sario (Letran Knights/Ateneo Blue Eagles) will also be on hand to test their mettle against one of the world’s best players.
“The Greek Freak Invades Manila” will also serve as the venue for the final match of a 3-on-3 tournament featuring students of the Makati Science High School. King Bally has generously donated a fully refurbished basketball court at the Makati Science High School campus along Kalayaan Ave. in Makati City. The official turnover of the completed basketball court will also take place at the event.
Upon the recommendation of the Department of Education, MakSci was chosen to be the beneficiary of “The Greek Freak Invades Manila.” While the students in the school are already well-known for academic excellence, this event aims to promote a balanced lifestyle and to introduce the benefits of playing and excelling in sports.
Like many Filipino children, Giannis Antetokounmpo grew up in dire conditions. Born to Nigerian immigrants in Greece, Antetokounmpo did not even have official citizenship until he was 18 years old. Through his hard work on and off the court, he is now well on his way to becoming one of the NBA’s biggest stars. Recently declared as the NBA’s Most Improved Player, Antetokounmpo is one of the hottest young players to watch out for in the upcoming season.
While in Manila, Antetokounmpo will meet the MakSci students who participated in the 3-on-3 tournament. He will have a chance to offer advice and inspire young Filipino players who might one day enjoy the same success.
