10. Chorizo on Piggy Back (Terry’s Selection) P310 – Craving for authentic Spanish cuisine? Try the Chorizo on Piggy Back at Terry’s Selection, with a chorizo composed of one of the world’s best spices Pimenton de la Vera, an exquisite Spanish spice with no preservatives that was the first to acquire the coveted status of denominacion de origen.
I’ve tried a lot of chorizos both here and in Europe, but never have I experienced something as exquisite as this! Oh wow! Blew me away really. A perfect pick to set your taste buds in the mood. You can even get to enjoy a little show as it’s served in a piggy clay pot that is fueled with brandy and flamed on one’s table, it’s a delicious and dramatic way to kickstart one’s meal.
I say, it’s the chorizo to end all your chorizo cravings! Will definitely come back for more!
9. Excalibur Kebab (Wursty Wursty) P900 – Behold the mighty Excalibur Kebab! Beef and chicken, seasons with oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper and more, served on a sword! Garnished with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and with pita bread and salad for sides, the Excalibur Kebab is a monster of a challenge for a group of friends!
The biggest most intimidating kebab I’ve seen so far. A certified show stopper if you wanna impress your friends on your next food trip. How was it? As delish at it looks! Best paired with warm pita bread and their Mediterranean salad for a burst of freshness.
8. LES Addiction (L.E.S. Bagels) P470 – Craving for Breakfast Food? Try an iconic New York breakfast staple – bagels, cream cheese and lox. The LES Addiction at L.E.S. Bagels is the perfect introduction to this classic dish, a Pumpernickel Bagel with Sliced Lox, Scallion Cream Cheese, Capers, Red Onions and Fresh Tomatoes.
It was sooooo satisfying that I wasn’t able to finish it! Super heavy and worth every peso especially if you’re a cheese lover like me. They also have pastries and also at least 5 varieties of cream cheeses!
7. Pulled Pork Poutine (Main Street) P240 – Craving for fries? Enjoy this classic in a new way with Main Street’s Pulled Pork Poutine, an addicting combination of hand cut fries, pulled pork, cheese curds, barbeque sauce and spicy mayo. Great when paired with beer! I bet pork and potato fans are gonna love this!
6. Beef Barbacoa Burrito (B&T Mexican Kitchen) P320 – Need of a Mexican fix? Try the Beef Barbacoa Burrito at B&T Mexican Kitchen, loaded with imported beef and cheeses, rice, beans, corn and veggies plus different Mexican sauces!
I’ve been hearing so many raves about B & T and though I haven’t tried a lot from their menu yet, so I believe I better go back for a taco fix.
5. Tom Yum Soup (Black Canyon Coffee) P253 – OOOOOooooohhh I love Thai food! The more kick, the better! This TOM YUM will surely ignite the senses! The soup itself is enough for me! Black Canyon Coffee’s Tom Yum Soup is the winner of the TOM YUM THAILAND CHAMPIONSHIP.
This dish is perfect for those who love spice and it’s great for heating one up during the rainy weather. Black Canyon’s Tom Yum has prawns, galangal, kaffir leaves, lemongrass stem, onions, straw mushroom, chili oil, fresh lime and coriander.
4. Chocolate Cupcake with Valhrona Cacao Nibs and Maldon Sea Salt Flakes (Sophie’s Mom) P95– Craving for something to satisfy your sweet cravings? Come to Sophie’s Mom for a blissful toothsome treat! Try the Chocolate Cupcake with Valhrona Cacao Nibs, made by esteemed French chocolatiers and imported Maldon Sea Salt. The nibs provide texture with its subtle crunch while the sea salt provides a delicate balance to the dark chocolate glaze.
3. Okonomiyaki Traditional Japanese Pizza (Nihonkai Tsukiji) P280 – Craving for authentic Japanese? Try the Okonomiyaki, a traditional Japanese Pizza. “Okonomi” means what you like and “yaki” means grilled. Nihonkai Tsukiji’s offering is deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside filled with egg, cabbage, pork, seafood, topped with mayonnaise, dried seaweeds, and dried fish flakes.
Meant to be shared and enjoyed! Think of it like a flat takoyaki!
2. Bacon Chips (Lucky’s Burger) P275 – Alas! My all time favorite! Craving for Bacon? Try the Bacon Chips at Lucky’s Burger – salty, smoky bacon with storemade sinamak vinegar, chili garlic sauce, salt, pepper paprika and chives. The bacon dish is the perfect mood-lifter and it’s great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even as a midday snack.
The perfect pulutan! I would have to admit that Lucky’s is my most favorite resto in this list as I’m also their regular customer whenever time permits. I love and worship their bacon so much!
1. Balut with Napa Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2011 (Planet Grapes) – P1450 / bottle, P40 / balut – Craving for wine? Chardonnay is traditionally known to go with fish, but Planet Grapes is inviting guests to explore how well local street food pairs with wine. In this adventurous pairing, Planet Grapes is offering their Saubignon Blanc with balut, the quintessential Filipino street food
In all my years in being a foodie, never have I thought that our humble balut would perfectly go well with a super “sosyal” chilled glass of sauvignon blanc. This can’t be real!! But yeah, it does really work.. I’m so convinced! Seriously, my balut eating sessions won’t be the same anymore. Try it I swear!
